VR Cargo is the freight department of Finnish

Railways (VR-Yhtymä Oy - VR Group Ltd.).

VR Cargo is a main carrier for industry and Finland's leading freight-

transport enterprise. The principal domestic customers are the forestry,

chemical, metal and engineering industries. In 2007 VR Cargo

transported over 40,3 million tonnes of goods. Domestic freight

volumes in Finland reached about 26 million tonnes.

VR Cargo offers wide expertise in the rail

freight traffic to and from the East. There

are frequent deliveries across the Finnish-

Russian border. Up to 24 cargo trains cross

daily the border to both directions.

Transit time to St Petersburg is 2-3 days

and to Moscow 3-4 days.

International transports represent about 40 % of all

VR Cargo transports. Our network extends all over Europe,

Russia, CIS countries and the Far East.
